About Me

Experience taught me how people learn. Instructional design gave me a wider canvas.

I am an instructional designer, learning experience designer, and educator who specializes in making complex ideas understandable, usable, and meaningful.

My Story

I did not leave education behind. I expanded what I could do with it.

For more than two decades, I have worked directly with learners, adapting instruction in real time, designing assessments, reducing cognitive overload, and helping students build confidence with difficult material.

That experience shaped how I approach instructional design. I do not begin with software, templates, or trends. I begin by understanding the learner, the performance goal, the context, and the obstacles that make success difficult.

Graduate study at the University of Central Florida helped me connect that practical expertise with formal instructional design models, learning science, multimedia development, game-based learning, evaluation, and performance improvement. It also expanded my view of the instructional designer’s role from course developer to strategic partner.

Today, I design learning experiences for classrooms, workplaces, and emerging AI-supported environments. The setting may change, but the purpose remains the same: make complexity manageable and help people perform with greater confidence, judgment, and independence.

What Guides My Work

Design principles grounded in learners and evidence

Strong instructional design is not about adding more. It is about making purposeful decisions that improve the learner’s experience.

01

Understand Before Designing

I study the learner, performance gap, environment, emotional context, and constraints before recommending a solution.

02

Preserve What Already Works

Improvement does not require replacing every existing element. Good design includes knowing what should remain unchanged.

03

Use Technology With Purpose

I use authoring tools and generative AI when they strengthen learning, accelerate quality work, or improve access and usability.

04

Design for Transfer

The goal is not simply completion. Learners should leave prepared to make decisions and apply what they learned authentically.
